Organizational and Corporate Team Building
HSD Facilitates and Designs Team Building and Development Sessions
Many companies talk about high performance team building. But far too few ever take action. And for those who do, the effects are often short lived.
At HSD®, we know organizational and corporate team building is hard work... that it's a process, and rarely a one-time event.
HSD® also knows how to bring high performance team building expertise to your organization. Our professionally certified consultants have a wealth of experience working with teams and provide an array of service and support, including:
- Team development process design
- The use of team feedback and diagnostic tools
- Facilitation of team building and development sessions
How does the process work?
- Data Gathering - We begin by talking with leaders to learn a team's strengths and weaknesses. We then use a variety of tools to gather up-front data, including a team questionnaire that may be completed on-line, the Myers Briggs Type Indicator, and face-to-face interviews with team members.
- Analysis - HSD® facilitates a group meeting with the team to discuss the data gathered.
- Problem Solving - Following that meeting, HSD® helps the organization make decisions and take necessary actions to improve the team's performance.
- Monitoring - Team reviews progress and checks on agreements (Are we doing what we agreed to do?).
When do you need team development?
Team development becomes critical any time your organization wants to grow and develop. Or any time you want to improve some basic condition or process that is interfering with the achievement of an organizational goal. Specific symptoms that might signal the need for team building include:
- Formation of a new team; the presence of a new leader or members
- Desire for staff/team development, growth, or improved change management
- Change of direction and strategy
- Increased number of staff complaints
- Conflicts or hostility among staff members
- Confusion about assignments or unclear roles
- Decisions that are misunderstood or not followed through properly
- Apathy or lack of interest among staff members
- Ineffective staff meetings; low participation in group decisions
- High dependency on, or negative reactions to, a manager
- Complaints from customers (internal or external) about the quality or quantity of output
What categories of results can you expect?
- Results specific to one or more individuals
- Results specific to the group's operation and behavior
- Results that affect the group's relationships with the rest of the organization
What does a leadership team development intervention accomplish?
Team building interventions have many different goals, including:
- Improving the effectiveness of a group in which members must work together to achieve results
- Helping the work unit engage in a continuous process of self-examination
- Developing a model of team effectiveness specifically designed to help the work unit
- Providing an opportunity for the group as a whole to analyze its functioning, performance, strengths, and weaknesses
- Identifying problem areas of team behavior and corrective action to be taken
Tailored team building to specific team issues may include:
- Developing a mission, purpose, and beliefs statement
- Establishing roles and responsibilities for work group members
- Developing a conflict-management process
- Examining and improving the group's problem-solving and meeting strategies
- Improving the group's communication or planning skills
- Learning more about team member personality styles and leadership preferences
What will it cost?
HSD®'s high performance team building costs vary depending upon the goal of the program, the number of participants, the types of feedback tools required, the level of customization, and facilitation time.
Average costs for a team building intervention are $1,500-$3,000 plus travel and cost of materials.
